The new system—accepted by the U.S. Air Force in January following rigorous testing—marks a major advancement in the base’s emergency communication capabilities, improving both coverage and clarity while reducing the infrastructure footprint. The project was officially recognized in a feature published by Hill AFB, which highlighted the system’s role in enhancing base-wide preparedness.

The upgrade cut the number of speaker stacks from 32 down to just 14, while simultaneously expanding total audible coverage and intelligibility across the installation. This leap in efficiency was made possible by advanced acoustic technology, enhanced power resiliency, and modular designs that simplify future maintenance and system lifecycle management.

“The Giant Voice system serves as a critical tool for emergency alerts and notifications at Hill Air Force Base,” said Master Sgt. Jessica Duckett, Superintendent of the Hill AFB Command Post. “Its primary purpose is to disseminate information during various situations such as natural disasters, active shooter events, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents.””.

In addition to emergency alerting, the system supports ceremonial functions and daily base-wide audio notifications—reinforcing both situational awareness and military tradition.

“The Giant Voice system upgrade is a significant investment in Hill’s emergency preparedness capabilities,” Duckett continued. “By improving coverage, audio clarity, and reliability, the system will continue to have an important role in protecting the safety and security of the base community”.

The new system provides Hill AFB with greater flexibility in alert targeting, improved resiliency through solar-powered backup systems, and more efficient field servicing—setting a new benchmark for alerting performance in the Department of Defense.

“As a disabled veteran, I understand the importance of keeping troops and communities on base safe and protected.” At HQE Systems, we will deliver emergency communication technology that empowers commanders to act in seconds, not minutes. This is what modern readiness looks like—intelligent, resilient, and built for the pace of today’s threats. ”The Hill AFB’s Giant Voice upgrade isn’t just about better audio—it’s about faster decisions, safer outcomes, and mission assurance,” said Qais Alkurdi, CEO of HQE Systems.

This successful deployment at Hill Air Force Base underscores HQE Systems’ continued role in advancing emergency detection, communication and management capabilities across U.S. military installations. As threats evolve, HQE remains committed to delivering dependable, scalable technologies that protect personnel, strengthen infrastructure, and support mission readiness—anytime, anywhere.

Mr. Qais Alkurdi was recently named by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as the 2025 Small Business Person of the Year for California. He will be honored in Washington, DC, on May 4th, 2025, as he competes for the title of National Business Person of the Year.
