EARLY WARNING SOLUTION – THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS
Press Release (Aug. 2023)
City of Rolling Hills, CA – In a vital stride towards augmenting its Emergency Preparedness and Communication Strategies, The City of Rolling Hills, CA, has contracted HQE Systems, Inc. (HQE) to develop and deploy the highly capable SiRcom Outdoor Warning Siren system. This unique partnership aligns with the city’s mass notification strategies, considering its location in a High Fire Severity Zone.
HQE’s meticulously crafted sirens address the dual predicaments typically encountered during emergencies such as wildfires: the loss of power and the absence of cellular/internet signals. These circumstances often impede swift and efficient communication with residents. HQE’s SiRcom sirens tackle these issues head-on with an impressive capability of up to 30 days of backup power and multiple communication modalities, encompassing Satellite, Radio, Cellular, IP, Secure Mesh, LoRaWAN, and SAFE Network Zones. This allows for timely alerts, even under the harshest conditions.

“Incorporating the outdoor warning sirens into our emergency mass notification framework strengthens the City of Rolling Hills’ ability to effectively alert and/or provide potentially life-saving instructions to residents during power or cellular system disruptions caused by wildfire or other emergencies requiring evacuation,” explained Christian Horvath, Project Manager of the Outdoor Warning Sirens project for the City of Rolling Hills, CA.
Joining hands with HQE has positioned Rolling Hills alongside an expanding roster of Californian municipalities cognizant of the immense value of resilient, sophisticated, and dependable outdoor warning siren systems. “Collaborating with HQE Systems on the SiRcom outdoor warning sirens project has been an insightful and learning experience. They are true experts in outdoor warning sirens. It was crucial for us to engage with a partner who could navigate the complexities of designing the right outdoor warning sirens system in our unique environment,” stated Mayor Pat Wilson.
The SiRcom sirens are durable and offer clear, comprehensible voice and tone alerts that significantly heighten the system’s effectiveness. “Thanks to the SiRcom outdoor warning sirens, our city will now benefit from modern, reliable, and intelligible outdoor warning alerts that are audible over extensive distances,” added Mayor Pro Tem Leah Mirsch.
The City of Rolling Hills‘ selection of HQE Systems to install the SiRcom Outdoor Warning Siren system marks a significant investment in reliable emergency alert systems in the face of escalating environmental challenges. This alliance is set to boost the city’s emergency readiness and safety infrastructure substantially.
